FEATURED ATHLETE PROFILE

JESSE FISHER

AGE GROUP SQUAD

NICKNAME:

Fish

LIVES:

Armstrong Creek

Jesse came to the sport of triathlon after retiring from local AFL competition. He was a complete novice with no experience in triathlon or the individual sports of swim, bike or run (apart from running around a footy field).

The first hurdle Jesse had to overcome was learning how to swim. Although he thought he could swim he soon realised he had much to learn and practice. Not even knowing you had to blow bubbles under the water and having to stop every 25m for a rest. His triathlon goals seemed a long shot. But determination and following the process set out by his coach is Jesse's strength. Soon enough this teacher by day became a student in training, absorbing all the information and lessons passed his way.

His next lesson was on the bike. Jesse's bike handling skills or lack there of, meant he needed to stop every time he needed to grab a drink. Once again Jesse was determined and focused to improve.

Fast forward a few years and now Jesse is a leader amongst the Beckworth Racing team, has qualified for multiple World Championships over varied distances, and is inspiring others as he continues to improve. Still relatively young in this sport, we expect some even bigger things to come for Jesse "FISH" Fisher!!
