NICKNAME:

LIVES:

I started out with Beckworth by attending some of the free clinics leading up to the Barwon Heads Triathlon in 2018. I felt like a real newbie when I turned up on my pink basket bike and my aldi helmet and everyone else had fancy looking fast ones! Fortunately I was soon put at ease with Adam's encouragement and the friendly faces.
The triathlon journey was a steep cardio learning curve for me! I grew up squad swimming til I was 16 then had been doing a rotating mixture of bootcamps and HITT classes. I had no background in cycling or running - as everyone could tell by the number of times I fell off my bike when I learned to ride in cleats! Yes ok, I still have the occasional road hug off the bike. I was also one of those people who thought running more that 10km was bad for you.
Between the great people and getting fit while learning new skills, I was hooked.
I've come a long way in the last few years. From not being able to run the whole 5km of a sprint triathlon to doing Geelong 70.3 3 years in a row. I signed up for port mac in 2019 and even though I haven't had the chance to race yet, I made it through the training build.
Hopefully, if Covid permits, I'll be able to call myself an Ironman next year!
THOUGHTS ON BECKWORTH RACING
Beckworth Racing is the reason I enjoy triathlon so much. I love the group training sessions where everyone works hard but also has a chat and supports each other. There is so much knowledge in the club with many experienced athletes and they are always happy to share it.
Adam has been my coach from the beginning and has always encouraged me through my goals, plus has balanced everything so I can still enjoy my social life. He looked out for me and those that are just starting out and I really appreciate how no one would be left behind and everyone feels included.
